Presentation Day
Four of us on the disc and we projected onto the wall, it worked and made sense - we all looked very clever and knowledgable about Photoshop.
Brilliant result, thanks to Keiren, Rodney and Racheal and various classmates who were at the right place at the right time.

Myth, legend? Who was actually crucified?
I think women came out of this crucifiction rather badly i.e. Mary as the Virgin mother was pure and her love unconditional, then there was the prostitute Mary, apparently a platonic relationship there. But as it happens the rest of us who aren't capable of a virgin delivery and who haven't yet been driven onto the streets - 80% to 90% fall into some odd category between a slut and a virgin. At one stage being a witch was a fahionable alternative apparently - perhaps I should draw in a small fire at the base of the cross?
I really wanted to transfer an image of Hermes (mythical? messenger of the Gods) in the bottom left of the picture but it all became too awkward.

Week 10 Learning to set up for a Presentation
Used the clone stamp, again I didn't realise you had to press ALT Gr to fix a selected piece, and that a right click gave diameter alternatives.
I found the Hermes image and down loaded it - saved it and maybe tomorrow will be able to transfer what I have done to my blog! All small triumphs. I am listing all these so that you can appreciate the level of understanding that some of us arrive at Polytech with!
The tutorial was good, Rodney had gone to a fair amount of trouble, burning CDs of his version of selected artist work and then getting us to tangle up cords and plugs setting the projectors up. IF I had to, and I admitted to him that I would try and avoid it, I could set up for a presentation.

Week 9 Vector Art
Still have not manged to get my pic transposed..another week another opportunity to hunt Kieran down.
Remix Week 8
Remix
week 7:
Photoshop with Kieran was instructive and I managed to down load a few images from the wikipeadia site - unfortunately I was so over excited about getting them I neglected to save them! However I shall get back to that , an image of Hermes I really liked.
I want to get an image of Christ on the cross and superimpose a woman in his place, with Hermes looking on as he passes by. It appeals to me.

Blind Loop
This is the loop clip that I shot with Susannah, Emma and Josh - Josh is the unwitting star of this piece of footage. I would have to say that it was an ENORMOUS struggle to get this sad little loop together and if I had had another 20 hours to spare where I could play with the Premiere program perhaps it could be more stunning.
I can see that video making as a collaborative effort with a group of like minded folk, who really know how to navigate the various pit falls of Premiere could be satisfying. Sofia Cappola I am not!

There are thousands of tunes out there lets face it and ok there is a bit of a similarity but perhaps it was just a subconscious memory that triggered the Harrison song, maybe it was a group consciousness thing? I'm not convinced he stole it and I'm not convinced that it wasn't a very attractive proposition to extract a bundle of money from the Beattles!
Lebbeus Woods vs 12 Monkeys
Absolutely Mr woods has a case. How many chair designs are out there and Terry Gilliam has looked at the picture, not only is the chair the same but the ball suspended beside the chair is similar to the TV ball in the movie. I would feel the same indignation Mr Woods felt.
Keir Smith
I guess technically yes his work is a collection of iconoic images pasted one after another. These are all icons we see regularly but they obviously belong to the companies they represent and perhaps they would have a case, but also its advertising isn't it? If its a parody, and it may be considered a parody perhaps its not illegal?
Its entertaining, like the industry it has used for imagery.

Blue Oyster Gallery Grad Show
I enjoyed the fragility of the card board boxes with the ever present screen showing the reality of fragility and vulnerability in Baghdad. The sound and visuals worked well, glowing inside the cardboard remains.
Jenna Todd: The Youtube Tapes
Clever contrast between the banal bleating of an American woman who thinks she's been unjustly called a name and the harrowing account of an Iraqi woman who has been brutally mistreated. Everyone has their own reality!
Allisia Holzer: Transcend Enclosure
Fresh and clear, little windows of serenity.
Aliki Baufis: Corridor11 and After Hours Window.
I was nearly fooled!
